Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Elf decks are famous for flooding the board, and Wellwisher turns that crowd into a wall of life. Tap this two-mana 1/1 and you gain 1 life for each Elf on the battlefield, counting itself, the rest of your tribe and even any Elves your opponents control.
In an Elf Commander deck with a dozen pointy-eared allies in play, that is double-digit life every turn from a single card, enough to blunt aggressive tables while your Elves build toward something bigger. Each activation is one life-gain event, so payoffs that trigger whenever you gain life get a boost every time it taps, and untap effects let you go back to the well more than once a turn. The flavor text, about turning a gift for one into a gift for many, sums the card up nicely.
The real treasure here is the art. Wellwisher was illustrated by Christopher Rush, the artist behind Alpha's Black Lotus, and this Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 783, presents his work in an extended-art frame as a Secret Lair bonus card, in foil. For collectors of classic Magic artists, it is a lovely way to put a Rush piece into an Elf deck.
