Item Description
Waterlogged Grove is the kind of land that never feels like a wasted draw. Early on, it taps for green or blue mana at the cost of 1 life, so it fixes your colors from the very first turn. Late in the game, when another land is the last thing you need, you can pay one, tap it and sacrifice it to draw a card instead.
That flexibility is why the Modern Horizons horizon lands caught on so quickly. They smooth out mana in the early turns and turn into fresh cards when the game drags on, which makes flooding out far less painful. For Simic decks in Commander or any green-blue list, Waterlogged Grove is an untapped dual that doubles as insurance, and it plays especially well with strategies that like lands going to the graveyard.
This is the Modern Horizons printing, collector number 249, illustrated by John Avon, whose landscapes have graced Magic lands for decades. Its flavor text reads: "The trees pull water from deep underground, filling the forest for miles."
