Item Description
Card advantage is the hardest thing to find in a colorless or lightly colored deck, and War Room hands it out from the land slot. Most turns it simply taps for colorless mana. Once the board stalls, it becomes a repeatable draw engine: pay three, tap it, and pay life equal to the number of colors in your commanders' color identity to draw a card.
That life cost is the whole story. A mono-colored commander pays a single life per card, a two-color pairing pays two, and a colorless commander pays nothing at all, which makes War Room a life-free draw engine for Eldrazi and artifact decks led by a colorless general. The plural in the text matters too, since Commander Legends was packed with partner commanders, and a pair of mono-colored partners still only costs two life per draw. Because it lives in the land count, it adds card flow without costing you a threat or an answer. Five-color piles should look elsewhere; mono- and two-color decks will be very glad to have it.
This is the Commander Legends extended-art printing, collector number 716, illustrated by Milivoj Ćeran, in non-foil, with the art stretched across the card's full width. Commander Legends was the 2020 draft set built around the command zone, and War Room debuted there.
