Item Description
Walls are supposed to stay put, which is what makes Wall of Wonder so delightful. This four-mana blue Wall is a 1/5 with defender, sturdy enough to hold the line against most early attackers. Then, for {2}{U}{U}, it gets +4/−4 until end of turn and can attack as though it did not have defender, turning into a 5/1 that lunges across the table when nobody expects it.
The flavor text sums it up nicely: “So confusing is the Wall's appearance that few of its victims even see it move.” It is a card with real old-school personality, first printed in Legends and brought back in Chronicles, Magic's 1995 reprint set that returned cards from Arabian Nights, Antiquities, Legends and The Dark to circulation. Today it is a charming pick for defender-themed decks, blue wall builds and Old School-inspired casual play, and Richard Thomas's art carries all the strange atmosphere of mid-90s Magic in a classic white-bordered frame.
