Magic: The Gathering single: Vona, Butcher of Magan. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
“Invasion. Conquest. Domination. Oh, how they make Vona's heart sing.” The flavor text sets the tone, and the card lives up to it. Vona, Butcher of Magan is a five-mana white-black legendary Vampire Knight, a 4/4 with vigilance and lifelink, and her signature move is ruthless: tap her and pay 7 life to destroy target nonland permanent, usable only during your turn.
Lifelink is what makes the whole package click. Every attack refills some of the life you spend, and vigilance means she can swing and still be untapped afterward to fire her ability in the same turn, picking off a creature, artifact, enchantment or planeswalker each time around. As a commander she leads Orzhov decks that treat life as a resource, and in the 99 of a vampire or lifegain deck she becomes a repeatable removal engine that opponents have to answer immediately. Surround her with lifegain payoffs and drain effects and seven life starts to look like a bargain.
This is the Secret Lair Drop showcase printing, collector number 1413★, in rainbow foil, with art by Pig Hands that gives the Rivals of Ixalan conqueror a striking new look.
