Item Description
Void Winnower cuts every opponent's options in half. This nine-mana colorless Eldrazi is an 11/9, and while it is on the battlefield your opponents can't cast spells with even mana values, and zero counts as even. They also can't block with creatures that have even mana values.
The details are where it gets nasty. Free spells and zero-cost artifacts are shut off, two-, four- and six-drops are stuck in hand, and most tokens have a mana value of zero, so whole armies of tokens suddenly can't block. Players can still cast X spells by choosing an X that makes the total odd, but the restriction warps every decision they make. Because it is colorless, any Commander deck that ramps hard or cheats creatures into play can run it, and it is a favorite top end for Eldrazi decks.
Void Winnower first stomped onto the scene in Battle for Zendikar. This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 1075, a borderless foil illustrated by Roman Klonek, with a joking flavor line about warming up to penthouse living.
