Item Description

Cascade is one of Magic's most satisfying mechanics: cast one spell, get a second one free. Violent Outburst is a three-mana red-green instant with cascade: when you cast it, you exile cards from the top of your library until you hit a nonland card that costs less, cast that card for free, and put the rest on the bottom. Then your creatures get +1/+0 until end of turn. Being an instant means you can cascade at the end of an opponent's turn or mid-combat, which few cascade cards can do.

That instant-speed cascade made it a key enabler for Modern decks like Living End and Crashing Footfalls, which carried no cheaper spells except the exact card they wanted to hit, turning a three-mana instant into a guaranteed bomb. In Commander, Gruul cascade decks enjoy it as a two-for-one with a combat bonus attached.

This is the Secret Lair Drop borderless printing, collector number 1185, illustrated by Tatamepi, in foil. Its flavor text sets a scene of pure household-pet mayhem: "Yarn unspooled, squeaky toys de-squeaked, upholstery torn to shreds—it was carnage."
