Item Description

Pick through the rubble, bolt something useful onto your gear and keep moving with a good dog at your side. That is the Fallout survival loop, and Scrappy Survivors turns it into a Commander game plan. Dogmeat, Ever Loyal, the series' famous canine companion, leads this red-green-white deck from Magic's Universes Beyond crossover with Bethesda's post-apocalyptic RPGs.

Dogmeat is a lean three-mana commander with a nose for loot. When he enters, you mill five cards and return an Aura or Equipment from your graveyard to your hand, so he arrives with something to strap on. After that, every enchanted or equipped creature you attack with creates a Junk token, the set's scavenged-scrap artifact that you sacrifice to exile the top card of your library and play it that turn. Kit out a couple of creatures, swing, and the scrap heap turns into extra cards.

Playing it feels like building a Fallout character: gear up a survivor, choose your fights and squeeze value out of whatever turns up. It is a friendly entry point to aura and equipment strategies, and the Naya colors leave plenty of room to tune it. You can pile enormous kit onto Dogmeat as a lone wanderer or spread upgrades across a ragtag crew. Kieran Yanner's art of the loyal pup gives the face card plenty of charm for Vault Dwellers who collect as well as play.
