Item Description
Unexpected Windfall reads like a simple trade and plays like a turbocharger. As an additional cost you discard a card, then you draw two cards and create two Treasure tokens. It costs four mana, but the Treasures hand two of that back, so in practice you are paying very little to upgrade a dead card into two fresh ones and bank mana for a bigger play.
Those Treasures can power out a big spell the same turn or later, help fix colors, and count as artifacts for any deck that cares about them, while the discard is a bonus in graveyard decks with madness or flashback. That blend of card filtering and ramp in one instant is why it shows up in so many red Commander decks and cubes.
This is the Marvel Universe printing, card 29, a borderless full-art non-foil with Source Material art by John Romita Sr., the legendary artist whose work on The Amazing Spider-Man defined the character for a generation of comics readers. It is a mythic in this printing.
