Item Description
A burning French chateau, a capsizing cargo ship, a plane breaking apart in midair and a desperate trek across the Rub' al Khali: Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception is built around some of the most spectacular set pieces Naughty Dog ever staged. It sends Nathan Drake and his longtime mentor Victor Sullivan after Iram of the Pillars, the legendary lost city known as the Atlantis of the Sands.
The trail starts with a ring that belonged to Sir Francis Drake and runs through the secret history of T. E. Lawrence, leading Nate and Sully from a London pub to a ruined citadel in Syria and the crowded streets of Yemen. Standing in their way are Katherine Marlowe, the coolly menacing head of an ancient secret order, and her enforcer Talbot. Charlie Cutter, Chloe Frazer and Elena Fisher join the adventure, and a flashback to a teenage Nate in Cartagena, Colombia, shows how he first met Sully, giving the series' central friendship real emotional weight.
The gameplay builds on Uncharted 2 with a reworked melee system that lets Nate counter, grab and use his surroundings in brawls, along with richer stealth and climbing through ever more ambitious environments. The technical work, from shifting sand to roaring fire, pushed the PlayStation 3 hard, and Greg Edmonson's score returns with a sweeping, adventurous main theme. Naughty Dog also built online competitive and cooperative modes around the same systems.
Drake's Deception closed out the original PlayStation 3 trilogy and finally gave Nate and Sully's relationship the spotlight it deserved. Playing it on the PS3 means the original release of the chapter where Naughty Dog let its blockbuster ambitions run wildest, the trilogy finale before Nate's story picked back up years later in A Thief's End.
