Item Description
Midway's touch-screen bar machines have kept people tapping between conversations for years, and TouchMaster 2 brings a second round of that habit-forming formula to the Nintendo DS. Built entirely around the stylus, this 2008 follow-up to the original TouchMaster (released in Europe as More TouchMaster) packs in 20 new games sorted into action, card, picture, puzzle and strategy categories.
The variety is the real strength. One minute you are testing your reflexes in an action game, the next you are studying a picture game, playing a relaxed hand of cards or working through a puzzle or strategy challenge, so a quick reflex test and something that makes you think a little harder are never more than a tap apart. Each game is controlled through simple touch input and built around a short, satisfying loop.
What keeps you coming back is the chase for a better score. Twenty games is a lot of personal bests to beat, and the challenge ramps up enough that casual dabbling can turn into a long-term project of mastering your favorites. You can play alone or go head to head against another player.
It is a clean showcase of why the DS was such a natural fit for pick-up-and-play gaming, and a handy way to have a stack of bar-top favorites in your pocket without hunting for quarters.
