When Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 let players land a vert trick and snap straight into a manual, combos stopped being single moments and became lines that could stretch across an entire level, from a quarter-pipe in the Foundry to a rail across the Airport terminal and back again. Its successor added the spine transfer and pushed the series further still. Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4 rebuilds both early-2000s favourites in one package, developed by Iron Galaxy and published by Activision in 2025, using the same polished foundation as the acclaimed 1 + 2 remake.
The handling is the star. Tricks snap out with the weight and speed fans remember, and reviewers noted the PlayStation 5 version holds a locked 60 frames per second, which matters enormously when a 200,000-point combo hinges on a single frame of balance. Classic stages like Canada and Tokyo return with modern lighting and detail, and three new levels, a Movie Studio, a Waterpark and a Pinball-themed park, sit alongside them.
Purists should know that THPS4's free-roaming career has been reworked into the classic two-minute run format of its predecessor. Kona and Zoo became competition levels, while Carnival and Chicago did not make the cut. Some original goals were moved into Pro goals that unlock later, and most of the old soundtrack has been replaced with new tracks, a choice that divided longtime fans. What you gain is a tighter, arcade-pure structure and hundreds of extra challenges to chase.
The roster blends legends such as Tony Hawk, Rodney Mullen, Bob Burnquist and Bam Margera with modern stars including Rayssa Leal, Yuto Horigome and Chloe Covell. Create-A-Skater is as deep as ever, and Create-A-Park now lets you build your own goals into custom levels, making it the most capable park editor the series has had. Multiplayer adds a new HAWK mode, a hide-and-seek twist on the letter collecting. For anyone whose thumbs still remember a Foundry combo, this is a fast, gorgeous way back into the series at its peak.
