Item Description

The GameCube edition of Tiger Woods PGA Tour 2003 earned strong reviews, and it is easy to see why once the analog swing clicks. Pull back on the control stick for the backswing, push forward to strike, and every shot comes down to tempo and rhythm rather than a meter you tap at. Pure the strike and the ball flies; rush the downswing and you will be hunting for it in the rough. Golf on the GameCube suddenly feels physical.

The course list mixes real championship layouts with EA's own fantasy designs, where the hazards get wilder and the fairways far less forgiving. The field pairs Tiger with a lineup of real tour pros plus a few larger-than-life EA originals. The Tiger Challenge sends you up against those golfers one at a time, real and fantasy alike, working your way through the field. Scenario mode serves up 50 tricky, realistic situations to solve, from awkward lies to must-make shots, and the tournament mode runs a full season on the PGA Tour for players who want the long game.

With friends on the couch it gets more competitive. Match play, skins and other head-to-head formats let everyone pass the controller, trade shots and argue over who choked on the eighteenth green, and the analog swing means nerves really do show up in your hands when a skin is on the line.

Headgate Studios had the series hitting its stride on Nintendo's console here, a year before the Game Face creator arrived, and it is a deeply satisfying golf game to simply pick up and play. It is the edition to reach for if you want Tiger at the height of his early-2000s dominance and a swing system that still feels right in the hands.
