Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Three mana, five loyalty, and a rule your opponents will hate: as long as Tibalt, Rakish Instigator is on the battlefield, they can't gain life. Lifelink, life-gain triggers and incidental healing all stop working against you, which makes this little devil a sharp answer to lifegain decks and a quiet partner for any red deck trying to close out a game.
His −2 creates a 1/1 red Devil with "When this token dies, it deals 1 damage to any target," so he can make two Devils immediately and still sit on the battlefield. Those Devils chump-block, trade, and ping a creature, planeswalker or player on the way out, and they're perfect fodder for sacrifice outlets in Commander aristocrats builds. Tibalt first appeared in War of the Spark, the 2019 set where every uncommon planeswalker came with a static ability and only minus abilities, and he's one of the most practical of that group.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 515, illustrated by Chase Stone, in foil, released in 2020 as a Secret Lair bonus card.
