Item Description
Hour of Devastation saw three gods rise to serve Nicol Bolas, and The Scarab God is the one that made opponents' graveyards feel unsafe. For {2}{U}{B}, it exiles any creature card from any graveyard and creates a token copy of it, except the copy is a 4/4 black Zombie. Every ability the original had comes along, so yesterday's blocker or your opponent's fallen bomb becomes a new member of your army.
Those Zombies feed its upkeep trigger: each opponent loses X life and you scry X, where X is the number of Zombies you control. The more you reanimate, the faster the drain builds and the better your draws get. Removal barely slows it down either; when The Scarab God dies, it returns to its owner's hand at the beginning of the next end step, ready to be cast again. A 5/5 body for five mana is the cherry on top. It is a favorite commander for blue-black Zombie and reanimation decks, and a value engine that rewards every creature that hits a graveyard on either side of the table.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 900, a borderless full-art mythic illustrated by Barely Human, offered in non-foil. The art runs edge to edge, giving the reanimating god a bold, poster-like presentation that stands apart from its original Amonkhet-block look.
