Item Description
The Mimeoplasm is graveyard alchemy in one card. As it enters, you may exile two creature cards from graveyards; it becomes a copy of one of them and gets additional +1/+1 counters equal to the other's power. Exile the best creature in any graveyard as the copy, pair it with a big-power creature as the fuel, and a 0/0 Ooze lands as a towering version of that creature.
It first led a Commander 2011 preconstructed deck, and it is still a favorite blue-black-green commander for self-mill decks. Fill your own graveyard and you choose from your best creatures; look across the table and you can borrow an opponent's fallen threat while exiling it from their graveyard. Every resolution is a little puzzle about which pairing makes the biggest swing, which is a big part of its charm.
