Complete in box: the game disc and its original case, with any printed inserts shown in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Discs are professionally resurfaced when they need it and tested before listing. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
It begins with a boy waking on the floor of a dark cave beside a chained, wounded beast the size of a house, and the first thing you do is pull the spears from its side. That small act of trust sets the tone for The Last Guardian, the long-awaited third game from Fumito Ueda and Team Ico, the creators of ICO and Shadow of the Colossus. First shown for the PlayStation 3 in 2009, it spent years in development limbo before finally reaching the PlayStation 4 in 2016, and it arrived as something big-budget games almost never attempt: a slow, patient story about two creatures learning to depend on each other.
Trico is the reason to play. Part bird, part cat, part overgrown puppy, covered in feathers and prone to sniffing, scratching and sulking, the creature moves and reacts with an animal unpredictability that still feels remarkable. You feed it glowing barrels, calm it after a fight with a gentle pat, and climb its back to reach ledges the boy could never manage alone. Trico does not obey like a vehicle. It hesitates, gets distracted and sometimes needs coaxing, which can test your patience, but it is exactly why the bond feels earned. By the later chapters it is leaping chasms on your word, and you can feel how far the relationship has come.
The setting is a vast, crumbling valley of sun-bleached towers, narrow bridges and hanging greenery, and the puzzles are built around the pair's different strengths. The boy squeezes through gaps, pulls levers and clears obstacles; Trico smashes walls and carries him across drops. Stained-glass eye symbols freeze the creature in fear until the boy knocks them down, and animated suits of armor try to carry the boy off, forcing Trico to step in with startling ferocity. A mirrored shield found along the way lets the boy aim the lightning that crackles from Trico's tail, one of the game's most satisfying ideas. The tale is narrated by the boy as a grown man, looking back on it all.
Takeshi Furukawa's orchestral score swells at exactly the right moments, and the final hours land with an emotional punch players still talk about. Together with ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, it completes an informal trilogy that shaped how games think about atmosphere, minimalism and wordless storytelling. Few games make you care this much about a creature that never speaks a word.
In a strange and mystical land, a young boy discovers a mysterious creature with which he forms a deep, unbreakable bond. The unlikely pair must rely on each other to journey through towering, treacherous ruins filled with unknown dangers. Experience the journey of a lifetime in this touching, emotional story of friendship and trust.
