Item Description

Thalia, Heretic Cathar is the creature opponents groan at when she resolves. She is a three-mana 3/2 with first strike, and every creature and nonbasic land your opponents control enters tapped. Hasty attackers lose their surprise, fresh blockers show up a turn late, and dual lands and utility lands all come in slow, while your own permanents are untouched.

That tempo tax makes her a sharp fit for white aggro and for Commander decks that like to keep the table a step behind, and first strike means she can hold her own in combat while she does it. She is also one of Innistrad's signature heroes: the cathar first seen as Thalia, Guardian of Thraben returned in Eldritch Moon branded a heretic, still fighting to protect her people.

This is the Secret Lair 30th Anniversary Countdown Kit printing, collector number 2016, a borderless foil illustrated by Rosemary Valero-O'Connell. The Countdown Kit celebrated Magic's 30th birthday with one card for each year of the game's history, and this Thalia stands in for 2016, the year Eldritch Moon introduced her heretic incarnation. Fittingly, its collector number is the year itself.
