Item Description
Kev Walker has been painting Magic cards for more than two decades, and this Secret Lair puts his Tezzeret in a retro frame that looks like it stepped out of an old-border booster. The blue-black planeswalker trades his usual modern frame for that classic look without losing any of his menace.
For four mana he starts at 3 loyalty, and every ability works your artifacts. The +1 looks at the top five cards of your library and lets you reveal an artifact and put it into your hand, a steady card-advantage engine in any deck with a healthy artifact count. The −1 turns target artifact into a 5/5 artifact creature for good, so a spare Signet, Treasure or Clue becomes a real threat. The −4 is the finisher: target player loses X life and you gain X, where X is twice the number of artifacts you control. Six artifacts means a twelve-point swing.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 1043, a retro-frame foil illustrated by Kev Walker. In Commander he fits blue-black artifact decks, and the old-school frame makes him a conversation piece on the table.
