Game only: the cartridge in a protective holder, no box or manual. The photos are our own, taken from our stock of this game — look them over for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
A canister of mutagen has surfaced somewhere in New York City, and if Shredder gets his hands on it first, the city is in serious trouble. That race kicks off Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze, sending Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michelangelo through the streets, down into the sewers and beyond in a sprawling side-scrolling adventure.
WayForward, the studio behind Shantae and DuckTales: Remastered, built it in the Metroidvania mold rather than as another straight brawler. The map is one connected world, and you start out with a limited set of moves. New abilities earned along the way open paths you passed earlier, so doubling back through familiar streets and sewer tunnels keeps turning up something new, and hidden upgrades reward players chasing 100 percent completion.
The best trick is the turtle swap. All four brothers are available at any moment, and you can switch between them on the fly, so the whole team is always one button press away. Leonardo's katanas, Raphael's sai, Donatello's bo staff and Michelangelo's nunchucks bring each brother's signature style from the show into the fight, and tagging in the right turtle at the right time keeps a tough stretch from turning into a slog.
Based on the second and third seasons of the 2012 Nickelodeon series, Danger of the Ooze is packed with fan service for viewers of that show, and it slips in homages to the 1989 NES Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for longtime fans. It is a compact adventure, ideal for a weekend of exploring, and an underrated stop in the Turtles' long gaming history. Its digital release was pulled from online stores in 2017 when Activision's license expired, so on 3DS the cartridge is how it is played today.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Danger of the Ooze is a 2.5D platform video game developed by WayForward Technologies and published by Activision . It is the second video game based on the 2012 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles TV series and features elements from the show's second and third seasons. It was released as a sequel to the 2013 game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The game also features gameplay elements and homages to the 1989 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES game.
