Item Description
Every island in Alola has a guardian, and Tapu Bulu watches over Ula'ula. In the games he is the brawler of the four island deities, a horned, wooden-shelled spirit, and the Pokémon TCG gives him the heavy-hitting treatment as a Grass-type Pokémon-GX.
Pokémon-GX cards were the big swings of the Sun & Moon era: powerful Basic or evolved Pokémon with a once-per-game GX attack, worth an extra Prize card when knocked out. Tapu Bulu GX brought that big-damage style to Grass decks, and he is a favorite of players who remember building around the Alolan guardians.
The real draw here is the Shiny Vault. Hidden Fates, the 2019 special set, included a subset of shiny Pokémon numbered with an SV prefix, and it quickly became a favorite of collectors chasing alternate-colored versions of their favorite species. This is the Hidden Fates: Shiny Vault printing, SV91/SV94, showing Tapu Bulu in his shiny coloring, in foil. For anyone building a shiny binder or collecting the Tapus, it is a striking card to own.
