Item Description
Syr Konrad, the Grim turns every death on the battlefield into a drumbeat of damage. He is a five-mana legendary Human Knight, a 5/4, and whenever another creature dies, a creature card is put into a graveyard from anywhere other than the battlefield, or a creature card leaves your graveyard, he deals 1 damage to each opponent. For two mana he can make each player mill a card, which keeps that engine running.
In Commander he is a natural leader for aristocrats, mill and reanimator decks. Board wipes become damage to every opponent, self-mill enablers ping the table for each creature card that hits the yard, and reanimating or exiling creature cards from your graveyard triggers him again. A single big mill spell can deal surprising damage, which is why he has been a popular graveyard commander since his debut in Throne of Eldraine.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 1297, a borderless foil illustrated by Mark Riddick, from the heavy-metal-themed Death Is Temporary, Metal Is Forever drop. Riddick is known for death-metal artwork, and that sensibility suits this grim Knight perfectly.
