Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. The photos are our own, taken from our stock of this game — look them over for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Pentavision's DJMax series built a devoted following on Sony handhelds, and when former members of that team formed Nurijoy, the PlayStation Vita gained a worthy spiritual successor. Superbeat: XONiC is a rhythm game shaped around the Vita's controls, based on Nurijoy's 2014 arcade game Beatcraft Cyclon, and it plays like nothing else on the system.

Notes spawn at the center of the screen and race outward to lanes on either side, so both hands share the work, while yellow arrow notes demand a flick or hold of the analog sticks in the direction shown. Mixing stick notes into button patterns is the skill that takes longest to master, and the most satisfying once it clicks. Arcade mode offers three tiers: 4 Trax eases newcomers in, 6 Trax adds lanes, and 6 Trax FX brings the shoulder buttons into play for a seriously demanding workout. World Tour mode turns the tracklist into goal-driven challenges, from hitting a target combo across a set of songs to clearing runs with the notes or HUD hidden.

The soundtrack is the draw. More than 50 tracks span soulful house, R&B, indie pop, progressive metal and big beat, with original music from producers including 3rd Coast, ND Lee and Tsukasa, and the guest tracks from Arc System Works' Guilty Gear series are a highlight. Leveling up earns DJ Icons, equippable perks that grant extra life, a ten-hit shield or an experience boost, which gives every session a sense of progress beyond chasing high scores.

A forgiving life bar keeps beginners in the game, the top difficulties and modifiers give experts room to hunt S ranks, and song speed can be adjusted to suit your eyes. Reviewers counted it among the strongest rhythm games on the Vita, and it carries the DJMax legacy forward from a small Korean studio on hardware that fits it perfectly.

About the game

SUPERBEAT: XONiC is an upcoming rhythm game developed by Nurijoy, a company formed by former employees of Pentavision. It is considered a spiritual successor to the DJMax music game series and its gameplay is based on the 2014 arcade game Beatcraft Cyclon, also made by Nurijoy. The gameplay of SUPERBEAT: XONiC consists of tapping notes to the beat of a song, either with the PlayStation Vita's face buttons or touchscreen. Modes, in order of difficulty, include 4 TRAX mode, 6 TRAX, and 6 TRAX FX. When selecting any mode, 3 tracks are played in succession and the player's performance is evaluated at the end. Local scores can be uploaded to a global online leaderboard if connected to the internet. SUPERBEAT will feature over 50 different tracks from a variety of genres, including soulful house, RnB, indie pop, progressive metal, and big beat and many more, and will include a collection of original music from producers such as 3rd Coast, ND Lee, Tsukasa and others.
