Magic: The Gathering single: Super State (Rainbow Foil). Our grade: Lightly Played. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.

Item Description

Seven mana feels just right for a transformation that, in Sonic lore, takes seven Chaos Emeralds. Super State is a legendary Aura that makes any creature you control a 9/9 with flying, first strike, trample and haste, and whenever that creature deals combat damage to an opponent, it deals that much damage to each other opponent as well.

Haste means the transformation pays off immediately: drop it on a mana creature or a lowly token and swing for 9 in the air that same turn. Flying and first strike keep it safe in combat, trample pushes damage past chump blockers, and the final clause turns a single hit into table-wide damage. In a four-player Commander game, one connected attack can deal 27 total damage across three opponents. It is a showstopping finisher for Voltron and Aura decks, and a hilarious top-end play for any table that loves big swings.

This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 2081, a borderless mythic illustrated by Tracy Yardley for Secret Lair's Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration, offered here in rainbow foil. Yardley is a longtime Sonic comics artist, which gives the card an authentic link to the franchise's printed history, and the name nods to the golden Super forms Sonic fans know from the games.
