Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Streets of Rage 3 is the fastest, meanest and strangest chapter of the Genesis trilogy. Mr. X is back, and this time his Syndicate has teamed up with Dr. Dahm to build lifelike robots that will quietly replace the city's officials, while bombs planted around town keep the police busy. Axel and Blaze return, Adam's younger brother Eddie "Skate" Hunter carries over from Streets of Rage 2, and the cyborg Dr. Zan joins as the new heavy hitter whose attacks crackle with electricity.

The fighting got a real overhaul. Every character can dash with a double tap and roll up or down the screen to slip out of trouble, which makes crowded brawls feel closer to a dance than a slugfest. Blitz attacks grow stronger as you rack up points without losing a life, tracked by stars beside your energy bar, and the special move no longer costs health once its meter has refilled. Weapons now wear out and break after repeated use, so a lead pipe is a resource rather than a crutch. Two players can team up, and the story branches: how you handle certain key moments decides which ending you see.

Yuzo Koshiro, whose studio Ancient co-developed the game with Sega, and Motohiro Kawashima took the soundtrack somewhere nobody expected. They traded the club-house grooves of Streets of Rage 2 for abrasive, hard-edged techno, some of it built with Koshiro's own experimental automated composition tools. It divided fans in 1994 and has been reappraised ever since as one of the boldest scores on the hardware.

The North American release also differs from Japan's Bare Knuckle III: the story was rewritten and the difficulty was raised, to the point that the Easy setting stops short of the final stages. That makes this the toughest version of the trilogy's finale, and hidden characters reward the persistent, including Shiva and a boxing kangaroo named Roo. Before Streets of Rage 4 revived the series decades later, this was where Axel and Blaze's story ended, and it is the wildest ride of the three.
