Item Description

Every big Star Wars game before this one handed you a lightsaber or a squadron to lead. Star Wars Outlaws hands you a blaster, a debt and a long list of people who would like to collect on it. Kay Vess is a small-time thief who grew up hustling on the edges of Canto Bight, and after a heist goes wrong she finds herself with a price on her head and the crime lord Sliro of the Zerek Besh syndicate determined to see it paid. Set between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, Massive Entertainment's adventure was billed as the first open-world Star Wars game, and it spends its time in the places the films only passed through: cantinas, back alleys, smuggling routes and the syndicate offices that really run the Outer Rim.

Kay never works alone. Nix, her small and fiercely loyal merqaal companion, can be sent to swipe an item from a guard's belt, trigger a distraction or leap onto an enemy mid-fight, while the reprogrammed battle droid ND-5 keeps her ship, the Trailblazer, in the air. Jobs mix stealth, cover shooting and speeder chases, and Kay can take the Trailblazer up from a planet's surface into orbit for dogfights with Imperial fighters. The worlds range from Toshara, a windswept moon created for the game, to familiar ground on Tatooine and the snowy, crooked streets of Kijimi.

The real engine of the game is its reputation system. The Pyke Syndicate, Crimson Dawn, the Hutt Cartel and the Ashiga Clan all have work for a capable scoundrel, and every favor you do for one can sour you with another, opening or closing districts, merchants and opportunities. Ordinary contracts become small moral gambles. Between jobs there is Kessel sabacc in the cantinas, and few things feel more like Han Solo's corner of the galaxy than bluffing a stranger out of his credits while the house band plays.

Ubisoft's Gold Edition is the version built around the base game plus the Season Pass, whose two story packs push Kay's career further: Wild Card sends her into a high-stakes sabacc game alongside Lando Calrissian, and A Pirate's Fortune pairs her with the Clone Wars rogue Hondo Ohnaka. The Gold Edition arrived on Nintendo Switch 2 in September 2025, and reviewers singled out handheld play as the most appealing way to experience it. A sprawling modern Star Wars open world that travels with you is something no earlier Nintendo console could offer, and it suits a game made of quick heists and long, curious wandering.
