Five years after Fallen Order, Cal Kestis is no longer a Padawan scrambling to stay alive. Star Wars Jedi: Survivor opens with him running operations against the Empire on Coruscant, battle-hardened, sharper with a lightsaber and carrying more doubt than ever about how far he will go to protect his crew. Respawn Entertainment built the sequel for current-generation hardware only, and it shows in the scale: bigger worlds, more ways to fight and a story that reaches further into the galaxy's past.

Combat keeps the deliberate, parry-driven rhythm of the first game and expands it with five lightsaber stances. Single, Double-bladed and Dual Wield return alongside two new ones: Blaster, which pairs the saber with a pistol, and the heavy, slower Crossguard. You equip two at a time at meditation points, so building a pairing that suits your style is part of the fun. Traversal grew too, with a grappling hook, an air dash and rideable creatures for crossing open ground, and expanded Force abilities let Cal turn the battlefield in his favor.

Much of the adventure centers on Koboh, a frontier world where the outpost of Rambler's Reach and Pyloon's Saloon become a home base that fills up with characters you recruit across your travels. Its sprawling zones are packed with Force Tears that test your combat skills and Jedi Chambers built around puzzles, and the trip also takes Cal to the desert world of Jedha. BD-1, Greez, Merrin and Cere return, joined by the mercenary Bode Akuna, while the story digs into the High Republic era through the mysterious Jedi Dagan Gera.

Directed by Stig Asmussen and scored by Gordy Haab and Stephen Barton, Survivor is the confident middle chapter of Respawn's Jedi saga, a game that takes everything Fallen Order started and gives it room to breathe. On Xbox Series X it is the place to pick up Cal's story at its most ambitious, before the trilogy's next chapter.
