Item Description
Secret Lair's Artist Series gave Johannes Voss a whole drop to reinterpret familiar cards in his own style, and his Sphere of Safety swaps the Ravnican original for his own vision, paired with a whispered, unsettling line of flavor text: “Brushing hair against your face.” It is the kind of card that makes opponents pause before they even read it.
Once they do read it, the pause gets longer. Creatures can't attack you or planeswalkers you control unless their controller pays {X} for each of them, where X is the number of enchantments you control, the Sphere included. In an enchantress Commander deck that number keeps rising, until swinging a single creature at you costs an opponent most of their turn. It is a cornerstone of the pillowfort style: stay out of combat, let the table fight among itself, and build toward your own win.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing from the Johannes Voss Artist Series, collector number 280, illustrated by Johannes Voss, offered here in non-foil. It upgrades a defensive workhorse into a card with real atmosphere.
