Item Description
Sorin, Vengeful Bloodlord makes your whole team drink deeply on your turn. While it is your turn, creatures and planeswalkers you control have lifelink, so every attack and every bit of planeswalker damage also pads your life total. His +2 pings a player or planeswalker for 1, and that point of damage comes with a point of life thanks to his own static ability, which makes it easy to build loyalty quickly.
That loyalty is fuel for the −X, which returns a creature card with mana value X from your graveyard to the battlefield, and it comes back as a Vampire in addition to its other types. Spend two turns ticking up and you can reanimate a four- or five-drop, or keep a cheap ability ready to recycle a creature that just died. For four mana in white and black, he is a strong fit for Orzhov aggro, Vampire decks that enjoy the extra creature type, and lifegain builds that want every attack to count twice.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 524, a foil illustrated by Tommy Arnold in a stained-glass style that frames Sorin like a cathedral window.
