Item Description
Few planeswalker abilities feel as rude as setting an opponent's life total to 10. Sorin Markov has been doing exactly that since his first printing in Zendikar, and this six-mana, triple-black vampire lord still plays like a villain should. His +2 deals 2 damage to any target while you gain 2 life, picking off small creatures or chipping at a face as his loyalty climbs.
The −3 is the headline. It drags any opponent straight to 10 life, which in Commander can turn the healthiest seat at the table into the most vulnerable in a single activation, ready for your next attack to finish the job. If Sorin survives long enough to reach −7, you take control of a player during their next turn and spend their cards and attacks on your own plans. He is a commanding finisher for mono-black, Vampire and lifedrain decks that can afford that heavy black cost.
This is the Mythic Edition: Ravnica Allegiance printing, collector number RA3, a borderless foil illustrated by Kieran Yanner. Mythic Edition was a premium boxed release built around alternate-art foil planeswalkers, and the borderless frame lets Yanner's ancient vampire fill the whole card, a striking way to own a classic Sorin.
