Item Description

Sorin, Lord of Innistrad builds an army one loyal vampire at a time. For four mana in white and black, his +1 creates a 1/1 black Vampire token with lifelink every turn, so he defends himself while growing his loyalty. The −2 hands you an emblem that gives creatures you control +1/+0, and because emblems can't be removed, every token you make for the rest of the game hits a little harder. Using both abilities across a few turns is a quiet, relentless way to turn a stalled board into a winning attack.

If he ever reaches −6, the payoff is spectacular: destroy up to three target creatures and/or other planeswalkers, then return each card put into a graveyard this way to the battlefield under your control. It is removal and theft in one move. In Commander he is a strong fit for Orzhov tokens, Vampire decks and anything that loves anthem effects, and Sorin's place in the story as the ancient vampire who created the archangel Avacyn gives him extra flavor for Innistrad fans.

This is the Duel Decks: Sorin vs. Tibalt printing, collector number 1, a foil illustrated by Chase Stone. Sorin vs. Tibalt (2013) pitted Sorin's white-black deck against Tibalt's red-black one, and this foil Sorin, with new art, headlined his side of the box.
