Item Description
Black's snow cards are some of the creepiest in Magic, and they all start with lands like this one. Snow-Covered Swamp taps for black mana like any Swamp, but as a snow land it feeds cards that count or spend snow. Priest of the Haunted Edge can sacrifice itself to give a creature -X/-X, where X is the number of snow lands you control, and Draugr Necromancer lets you spend snow mana as though it were any type to cast the opponents' creatures it has exiled with ice counters.
None of that costs you anything in deck-building terms. It is a basic land with the Swamp type, so anything that searches for a basic Swamp finds it, and a Commander deck can run as many as it wants. Swap it in and your mana base quietly becomes part of your game plan.
This is the Secret Lair Drop printing, collector number 1475, in its rainbow foil version: a full-art land illustrated by ELK64, released in December 2023, and a striking way to dress up a black deck.
