Item Description

On the Wii, the fifth Skylanders season took a different road. While the HD consoles received the full SuperChargers adventure, Beenox built a standalone game for Wii and 3DS around the racing portion alone, and the result is a focused, colorful kart-style competition starring the series' cast behind the wheel.

Vehicles are the new stars. They come in three classes, land, sea and sky, so one race might tear along a dirt track while the next dives underwater or takes to the clouds. The courses are stuffed with power-ups, boosts and hazards, and the game advertises up to 50 different race experiences across its tracks. The clever part is the pairing system: every SuperCharger character has a matching signature vehicle, and putting the right pair together sends both into a Supercharged state with extra abilities, which gives collectors a real reason to match figures to rides.

Nintendo's versions also welcomed two famous guest drivers, Donkey Kong and Bowser, whose figures doubled as amiibo for other games. Split-screen multiplayer is the heart of it, and the cartoon presentation and simple handling make it an easy race to hand to a younger player while the adults try to keep up.

SuperChargers Racing also closes a chapter: it was the last Skylanders game released for the Wii, since the following year's Imaginators skipped the console. For anyone who followed the series on Wii from Spyro's Adventure onward, this is the final stop on that run, and the entry where the Skylanders finally got their engines.
