Game only: the cartridge in a protective holder, no box or manual. The photos are of this exact cartridge — look them over closely for its condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Five minutes on the clock, a town full of ramps and pipes, and thirty tricks hidden somewhere along the route: that is the whole pitch of Skate Boardin', and it works beautifully. This late-era Atari 2600 cartridge came from Absolute Entertainment, the studio founded by Activision veterans in the mid-1980s, with Pitfall! creator David Crane credited on the design. By 1987 the 2600 was a budget machine living in the shadow of the NES, yet Skate Boardin' plays like the work of people who knew every trick the old hardware had left.

Each run is part exploration, part route planning. The fire button jumps, which lets you clear hurdles and hop back on the board after a wipeout, while holding it drops you into a crouch for slipping through pipes. The cleverest move is skitching: grab the back of a passing vehicle and let it tow you across town, a cheeky shortcut that buys back precious seconds. Obstacles that knock you off your board eat into the timer, so the real challenge becomes learning the most efficient line through the maze and hitting every trick on the way.

It is also one of the earliest skateboarding video games, arriving a year after Atari Games put 720° into arcades, and it bottles the late-'80s skate craze in a way few home games of the period managed. Absolute followed it with Super Skateboardin' on the Atari 7800, and Activision later brought the original back in its Activision Anthology collection. For 2600 players it is a fun reminder that the console was still getting inventive new games a full decade into its life, and a cartridge that turns a few practice runs into a satisfying sense of mastery.
