Item Description
Siralim is the monster-collecting RPG for players who would rather perfect a team than follow a plot. Zack Bertok's Thylacine Studios built it around more than 300 creatures, each with its own abilities, and the joy of the game is assembling a party whose traits, spells and equipment feed off one another until a battle you once dreaded collapses in a couple of turns.
The loop is simple and dangerously habit-forming. You set out from your castle into randomly generated dungeons spread across eight Realms, among them the Chaos, Life and Winter Realms, fight turn-based battles, complete randomized quests and come home with treasure. That treasure feeds the castle itself, which works as your hub: add rooms such as a blacksmith and an enchanter's room, upgrade your gear, craft artifacts and empower your creatures. Nether Egg crafting lets you hatch powerful creatures you can tailor to your build, and every improvement makes the next, deeper dive a little more ambitious.
The presentation is unapologetically retro, all chunky pixel art and menus that put information first, and the light roguelike structure means no two trips into the Realms look quite alike. That is the trade Siralim makes: no lavish cutscenes, but a progression system so deep that one more dungeon has a habit of turning into three more hours. It earned a devoted following among players who love monster RPGs but want far more strategic depth than the genre usually offers.
Thylacine kept building on the formula through Siralim 2, Siralim 3 and eventually Siralim Ultimate, and this is where the series began. On PS4 it is a chance to start at the root of an indie creature collector whose ambitions run far deeper than its humble sprites suggest.
