Item Description
The sun is going out, and Cora is the last one left to do anything about it. Seed of Life is a small, earnest sci-fi adventure from indie studio MadLight about a young survivor on Lumia, a planet whose life force has been drained away by invaders and whose remaining light is being swallowed by darkness. Her only hope is the Seed, an alien device capable of generating new life, and the journey to activate it takes her across a world that is equal parts beautiful and hostile.
The game blends third-person exploration, environmental challenges and puzzle solving across a semi-open, labyrinth-like world. Collecting capsules unlocks new abilities for Cora, gradually opening up routes and secrets that were out of reach earlier, while alien creatures and creeping shadows keep every excursion tense. The art direction leans on contrast, with saturated, glowing landscapes set against pockets of deep darkness, and that push and pull between light and shadow ties the visuals directly to the story's theme of rekindling life.
Seed of Life is not a sprawling blockbuster, and it does not pretend to be. Its appeal is a focused, atmospheric single-player journey with a hopeful heart, the kind of indie project that rewards players who enjoy exploring a strange world at their own pace and piecing together what happened to it. On PlayStation 5 it makes a quiet change of pace from the console's big-budget blockbusters, and a reminder of how much atmosphere a small team can build around one simple, hopeful idea.
