Item Description
Recruiter of the Guard is a tutor wearing a soldier's uniform. When this three-mana white 1/1 Human Soldier enters, you may search your library for a creature card with toughness 2 or less, reveal it and put it into your hand. That restriction sounds narrow until you look at how many utility creatures, combo pieces and value engines carry small bodies.
In Commander that makes Recruiter a flexible toolbox card: fetch a mana creature early, a hate piece when an opponent's strategy shows itself, or the missing half of a combo when the game is ready to end. It also plays wonderfully with flicker and reanimation effects, because every time it re-enters you get another search. White does not get many ways to find specific cards, so a creature that does it while adding a body to the board is a real treat.
This is the Conspiracy: Take the Crown printing from 2016, collector number 22, illustrated by Jason Rainville, in non-foil. Its flavor text fits the card's recruiting role neatly: “Before a cause can have supporters, it has to have a voice.”
