Complete in box: the UMD, the manual and the original case, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every game is tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Ratchet and Clank only wanted a vacation. Their beach getaway on Pokitaru lasts right up until they meet Luna, a girl writing a school report on heroes, and watch her get carried off by robots. The rescue becomes a galaxy-hopping chase tied to the Technomites, a lost race of tiny geniuses that Ratchet is sure are a myth. Size Matters was the duo's first handheld adventure, released for the PSP in 2007 by High Impact Games, a studio formed by former Insomniac developers, and it plays like a full Ratchet & Clank squeezed onto a UMD.
The core loop is right where fans want it: run-and-gun platforming across colorful planets, a big arsenal of upgradable weapons and a steady shower of bolts to spend. Weapons grow stronger with use, so the Lacerator eventually becomes the Dual Lacerators, and returning favorites such as the Bolt Grabber and the R.Y.N.O. sit alongside new toys. Weapon mods come from Slim Cognito, and the game introduced a fresh armor system in which you hunt down armor pieces hidden throughout the levels and combine them into full suits.
Variety keeps every planet moving. Clank gets his own sections commanding Gadgebots, Skyboard races pay out bolts, gadgets and armor, and space battles swap the usual starship for a towering Giant Clank. The story keeps the series' humor intact, with Captain Qwark off searching for his long-lost parents and Emperor Otto Destruct revealing a scheme rooted in the Technomites' bitterness at never getting credit for their inventions. Finish the game and Challenge Mode opens up with tougher enemies, Titan weapon upgrades and a bolt multiplier, plus 25 Skill Points and 20 Titanium Bolts to track down.
Critics loved it, with an 85 on Metacritic, 9 out of 10 from both IGN and Game Informer, and a Handheld Game of the Year nomination from the Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences. Its sales earned it a place in Sony's Greatest Hits line, the budget reissue label for the PSP's top performers. A PS2 port followed in 2008 to much weaker reviews, so the PSP is the way this adventure was meant to be played: a compact, confident Ratchet outing that bridges the PS2 games and the duo's PS3 era.
Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters (known as Ratchet & Clank 5 in Japan) is a 2007 platformer video game developed by High Impact Games and published by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation Portable and PlayStation 2. The game is the first Ratchet & Clank title on the PSP handheld. Development company High Impact Games was spawned from the original Ratchet & Clank developer, Insomniac Games. The story is about Ratchet and Clank as they are interrupted from their vacation to search for a kidnapped girl and encounter a forgotten race known as the Technomites.
