Item Description

Rare Candy has been the Pokémon TCG's shortcut to Stage 2 for generations of players. Play it on one of your Basic Pokémon and, if you have the matching Stage 2 card in hand, you evolve straight into it, skipping the Stage 1 entirely. It can't be used on your first turn or on a Basic that was put into play that turn, but from then on it can put a fully evolved attacker on the board well ahead of schedule.

That jump is why Rare Candy shows up in so many decks built around big Stage 2 Pokémon. It saves a turn, saves deck space you would otherwise spend on Stage 1 cards, and keeps an evolution line from getting knocked out halfway up. Few Trainer cards have mattered across as many formats for as long, which gives a premium version like this real appeal for players who want their staples to look special.
