Item Description

One life, five operators and a wall that is about to stop being a wall. Rainbow Six Siege threw out the run-and-gun bombast of modern shooters in favor of tense five-versus-five rounds with no respawns, where information, planning and a single well-placed shot decide everything. Ubisoft Montreal built it after the cancellation of Rainbow 6: Patriots, and the result was a bold reinvention of Tom Clancy's tactical series for the PlayStation 4 generation.

Every round begins with preparation. Defenders reinforce walls, barricade doors and set traps, while attackers send in remote drones to scout the building and locate the objective, whether that is a bomb to defuse, a hostage to extract or an area to secure. The launch cast of 20 operators came from five real-world units, the SAS, FBI SWAT, GIGN, Spetsnaz and GSG 9, each with a signature tool: Thermite's breaching charges, Mute's signal jammers, Sledge's hammer, Castle's armor panels, Montagne's extending shield and Tachanka's mounted machine gun.

Destruction is the language of the game. Walls, floors and ceilings can be breached to open new sightlines, so maps such as House, Oregon, Bank and Consulate change shape every round. Learning which surfaces can be broken, where defenders like to hold and how sound gives players away is an endless and rewarding education. Terrorist Hunt lets up to five players team up against AI opponents, a great way to learn the maps and gadgets without the pressure of a ranked lobby.

Siege launched to a cautious reception in late 2015, then grew year after year through seasonal updates into a major esport and a fixture of competitive play. It was designed around online multiplayer, and this disc is the original PlayStation 4 release from the start of that long run. For collectors of modern shooters, it captures the moment Ubisoft rewrote what a tactical FPS could be.

About the game

Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical first-person shooter focused on close-quarters combat between teams of five. Players select from a roster of operators drawn from counter-terrorism units around the world, each with unique gadgets and abilities. One team attacks objectives such as defusing bombs or rescuing hostages, while the other team fortifies and defends. The game emphasizes destructible environments, with players able to breach walls, ceilings, and floors to create new lines of sight. There is no respawning within rounds, making each player's survival critical. The title has no single-player campaign but includes training modes and cooperative scenarios against AI opponents.
