Magic: The Gathering single: Portable Hole, from Promo Pack: Adventures in the Forgotten Realms. Our grade: Near Mint. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Every Dungeons & Dragons player knows the trick: unfold a circle of black cloth, and whatever falls in is gone. Portable Hole turns that classic magic item into one white mana of removal. When it enters, it exiles a nonland permanent an opponent controls with mana value 2 or less, and keeps it locked away until the Hole itself leaves the battlefield.
That window covers a big share of what opponents play early: cheap creatures, mana rocks, two-mana enchantments, Equipment and even tokens, which have a mana value of 0. Because it is an artifact, it also counts for artifact-themed decks and anything that cares about artifacts entering the battlefield. The tradeoff is part of the fun: if someone destroys the Hole, the prisoner climbs back out, so it plays best in decks that can protect it or reuse it.
This is the Promo Pack printing from Adventures in the Forgotten Realms, collector number 398, illustrated by John Stanko, in non-foil. Promo Pack cards came from the store promo packs released alongside the 2021 D&D-themed set, a fun alternative to the regular booster version.
