Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. The photos are of this exact copy — look them over closely for its condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.

Item Description

Charizard on the box, Pallet Town on the screen, and the same choice that hooked millions in the 1990s: Bulbasaur, Charmander or Squirtle. Pokemon FireRed and its partner LeafGreen were the first remakes in the Pokemon series, rebuilding the original Kanto adventure from Red and Green on Game Boy Advance hardware, and FireRed is the edition that follows in the footsteps of Red.

The journey is the one fans know by heart, now with Generation III's systems underneath it. Brock, Misty, Lt. Surge and the rest of the Kanto Gym Leaders stand between you and the Indigo Plateau, Team Rocket is still running its operations out of Celadon City and Silph Co., and Pokemon now carry the abilities and natures introduced in Ruby and Sapphire. FireRed keeps the Red tradition of version exclusives, so Growlithe, Scyther and Electabuzz show up here while LeafGreen players need a trade to get them.

Game Freak also smoothed the old rough edges. A built-in Help system explains what to do next, the Vs. Seeker lets you rematch trainers you have already beaten, and the remade maps and sprites keep the look of the 1996 originals while making everything easier to read. Then the remake goes beyond the original with the Sevii Islands, a chain of islands off the coast of Kanto with new routes, new story threads involving leftover Team Rocket members, and Pokemon from Johto that were never catchable in Red or Blue. Earning the National Pokedex opens even more.

FireRed and LeafGreen became the second best-selling games on the Game Boy Advance, behind only Ruby and Sapphire, and they were the first Pokemon games built around the GBA Wireless Adapter for cable-free trading. FireRed also connects with Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald, which makes it the Kanto piece of the Generation III puzzle. For many players it is the best way to revisit Kanto as it was first imagined, with fewer frustrations and more to do once the credits roll.

About the game

Pokémon FireRed Version and Pokémon LeafGreen Version are a pair of core series Generation III games that are set in the Kanto region. They were released in Japan on January 29, 2004, in North America on September 9, 2004, in Australia on September 23, 2004 and in Europe on October 1, 2004. As the first remakes in the Pokémon franchise, the games revisit the original pair of Pokémon games, Pokémon Red and Green Versions, and so feature all of the characters, plot elements, and challenges of them, but with several important upgrades to bring them up to speed with other Generation III games. The Game Boy Advance Wireless Adapter was initially included with the games when they were first released, eliminating the need for Game Link Cables when trading between the two games (and later Pokémon Emerald Version). In later copies, it was sold separately. FireRed and LeafGreen went on to become the second best-selling games of the Game Boy Advance, only behind Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire Versions. They also received Nintendo's Player's Choice awards.
