Item Description

Pinsir has always looked like trouble: a horned, stag-beetle bruiser whose Pokédex entry warns that if it cannot crush its prey in its pincers, it will swing it around and throw it. That grappler’s personality carries straight into its Jungle card.

Irongrip, for two Grass Energy, does 20 damage and Paralyzes the Defending Pokémon on a heads, and Guillotine swings for 50 with two Grass and two Colorless Energy. A 60-HP Basic that can lock down an opponent with paralysis and then hit hard made it a sturdy, no-nonsense attacker for Grass decks of the era. Jungle printed each of its rares twice, once as a holofoil and once as a non-holo rare, and Pinsir’s holo version is 9/64; this card uses the same Kagemaru Himeno artwork in the standard finish.

This is the Jungle printing, card 25/64, the non-foil rare illustrated by Kagemaru Himeno. Released in 1999 as the second English expansion, Jungle is a cornerstone of any Wizards-era collection, and this card completes the non-holo half of its rare lineup.
