Pokémon single: Pikachu, Korean-language printing (Pikachu World Collection Promos #PW 3, foil). Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Masakazu Fukuda drew the Korean Pikachu for the 2010 Pikachu World Collection, and that is the detail that matters: this is not a translated copy of a single image but an illustration of its own, one of nine different Pikachu pieces in a nine-language set. Fukuda’s artwork sits inside the gold holofoil border that ties the collection together, so the card works both as a standalone Pikachu and as one chapter of a larger story.
The World Collection was a tribute to how far the Pokémon TCG had spread by 2010. It launched in Japan that July and in English that November, where the box bundled the nine cards with a World Championship deck. Its lineup runs English, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Polish and Portuguese, and the Korean card is number three in that order, placing it early in the set’s binder page.
This is the Pikachu World Collection promo PW 3, the Korean-language Pikachu illustrated by Masakazu Fukuda, in gold-bordered holofoil. Language-variant collectors need it for the full run, and Pikachu collectors get an illustration that differs from every other card in the collection.
