Pokémon single: Pikachu (German). Pikachu World Collection Promos #PW 6, foil. Pictured: this printing of the card. Every card ships triple-sleeved — a soft sleeve, a deck sleeve and a rigid top loader.
Item Description
Nine languages, nine different Pikachu illustrations: that was the hook of the 2010 Pikachu World Collection, and it is what makes each card worth hunting on its own. Rather than reprinting one picture with translated text, the set gave every language its own artist, and every card the same gold holofoil border to tie the run together.
The German entry, PW 6, is illustrated by Naoki Saito, a take on the mascot you will not find on the Japanese, Korean or Portuguese cards. The collection first appeared in Japan in July 2010 and reached English-speaking players that November, when the English box paired the nine cards with a World Championship deck. Line up the full run and a binder page becomes a small tour of the game’s reach at the time: English, Italian, Korean, Spanish, Japanese, German, French, Polish and Portuguese, the nine languages the Pokémon TCG was printed in that year.
This is the Pikachu World Collection promo PW 6, the German-language Pikachu illustrated by Naoki Saito, in gold-bordered holofoil. It is a natural target for language-variant collectors and gives a Pikachu collection a card with an international story behind it.
