Item Description

Gold suits Pikachu. The Hyper Rare treatment from Surging Sparks wraps this Pikachu ex in the gilded finish reserved for the very top of a Scarlet & Violet set's rarity ladder, turning a card already loaded with personality into a small trophy.

It plays just as well as it looks. Pikachu ex is a 200-HP Basic Tera Pokémon ex, so it takes no damage from attacks while benched, and its Resolute Heart Ability lets it survive a knockout blow from full HP with 10 HP left. That bonus turn is the window for Topaz Bolt, which hits for 300 using one Grass, one Lightning and one Metal Energy and then discards three Energy from Pikachu ex. Opponents usually need two attacks to remove it from full health, and they still take only two Prize cards for the trouble.

This is the SV08: Surging Sparks printing, card 247/191, a Hyper Rare holofoil illustrated by aky CG Works and numbered past the main set as one of its gold secret rares. Set beside the set's other Pikachu ex versions, it is the card that finishes a Surging Sparks Pikachu page with a golden flourish.
