Item Description

Pikachu has spent decades as the franchise's cheerful mascot, so there is something satisfying about a Pikachu ex that plays like a stubborn, all-in heavy hitter. Its Resolute Heart Ability means that if it has full HP and an attack would Knock it Out, it hangs on with 10 HP instead, forcing your opponent to spend a second attack to finish the job.

That extra turn is the window for Topaz Bolt, a 300-damage swing paid with one Grass, one Lightning and one Metal Energy, after which you discard three Energy from Pikachu ex. It is a big, deliberate payoff that rewards decks able to power up several Energy types quickly, and the 200-HP Basic body can hit the field right away and start absorbing attacks while you build toward it.

This is the ME: Ascended Heroes printing, card 057/217, a Double Rare holofoil illustrated by aky CG Works, whose crisp 3D-rendered style defines the look of many modern Pokémon ex cards. Ascended Heroes brings this Pikachu ex into the Mega Evolution era, giving Pikachu collectors a fresh version to slot beside the Surging Sparks original.
