Complete in box: the cartridge, the manual and the box, all original; anything beyond that is included only if you can see it in the photos. Look over the photos for condition, packaging and details. Every cartridge's shell, label and board are checked for authenticity when it comes into the store, and it's tested before it's listed. It ships in a collector's bag or a hard plastic case.
Persona 3's S.E.E.S. and Persona 4's Investigation Team were never supposed to share a hallway, yet Persona Q puts both casts in the same cursed school. The ringing of a strange clock tower bell traps everyone in a warped version of Yasogami High during its cultural festival, where two amnesiac strangers, Zen and Rei, need help recovering what they have lost. The way forward runs through a series of themed labyrinths, from the sugary Group Date Café to the haunted-house Evil Spirit Club, each one dripping with the series' playful sense of humor.
Underneath the chibi charm sits a demanding dungeon crawler built on Etrian Odyssey's bones. You explore in first person and draw your own map on the touch screen, charting walls, doors and shortcuts square by square, while FOEs, powerful enemies you can watch patrolling the map, force you to plan routes instead of charging ahead. Combat rewards hitting weaknesses: land one and that character enters a Boost state that makes their next skill free, so a well-built party can chain together turns of devastating offense.
Party building is where the crossover shines. You choose to follow either the Persona 3 or the Persona 4 protagonist, which changes how the story is framed, then assemble a five-member team from a deep bench of fan favorites. Each character can equip a sub-Persona for extra skills and a boost to HP and SP, which opens up combinations neither original game allowed, and watching two very different groups of friends size each other up, tease each other and eventually work as one team is half the fun.
Built by Atlus's P Studio, it was the first Persona game on a Nintendo system, and it pairs the series' stylish menus and catchy, upbeat battle music with a challenge that hardcore RPG players respect. Persona Q2 later brought the Phantom Thieves into the mix, but this original has a special charm as the moment these two generations of Persona first stood side by side.
Persona Q is a crossover video game, containing characters from both Persona 3 and Persona 4 in a game based on Etrian Odyssey, with its perspective, play-style, and systems. Persona Q's gameplay focuses further on being a dungeon crawler. Players choose to play from the perspective of either the Persona 3 protagonist or the Persona 4 protagonist, with each side featuring slight differences in the main story. The player's choices will also alter the flow of the game.
