Item Description

There is an hour between one day and the next that most people never experience. During the Dark Hour, ordinary residents freeze inside coffins, monstrous Shadows roam the city, and Gekkoukan High School twists into Tartarus, a towering labyrinth that changes every night. Persona 3 Reload drops you into that hidden hour as a quiet transfer student who discovers he can summon a Persona, and joins the Specialized Extracurricular Execution Squad to climb the tower and find out why it exists.

The genius of the 2006 PlayStation 2 original was its calendar. Days are spent attending class, studying for exams, joining clubs and building Social Links with friends and townsfolk, and each bond powers up the Personas you fuse in the Velvet Room with Igor and Elizabeth. Nights are for Tartarus, where turn-based battles revolve around exploiting weaknesses to knock Shadows down for an All-Out Attack. Balancing the two is a satisfying puzzle, and it became the formula Persona 4 and Persona 5 built on.

Reload, Atlus's full remake from P Studio, rebuilds everything in modern style while keeping the story and its haunting memento mori themes intact. Shift lets you pass a turn to an ally after hitting a weakness, powerful new Theurgy attacks give each SEES member a signature ultimate, and Linked Episodes add new scenes with teammates such as Yukari, Junpei, Akihiko, Mitsuru, Aigis and Shinjiro. Shoji Meguro's soundtrack returns rearranged, with new vocals including Lotus Juice and Azumi Takahashi on the memorable "Full Moon Full Life."

The remake first released on other consoles in early 2024, and the Switch 2 version followed in October 2025, giving Nintendo players the full modern Persona 3 after years of only having Persona 3 Portable. It is a long, emotional journey about friendship and mortality, and a perfect handheld companion for a month of evenings in Iwatodai.
