Item Description

Running a pet hotel sounds like a dream job until the rabbits need feeding, the horse needs exercise and three new guests are arriving at once. Paws & Claws Pet Resort turns that juggling act into a gentle, rewarding management game for the Game Boy Advance, built for young animal lovers who would happily spend an afternoon caring for other people's pets.

Developed by Germany's Independent Arts Software and published by THQ in 2006, the game puts you in charge of a resort that looks after dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, birds, fish and horses. Each guest needs feeding, a clean enclosure and some attention, and you can play with the animals, buy them new toys and even take the horses out for a ride through the countryside. Doing the job well earns money and a better reputation, which you put back into building and expanding the resort so it can welcome more animals.

It is part of the Paws & Claws line THQ brought over from European pet-simulation games, a series that went on to the Nintendo DS and Wii, and this GBA entry is one of its earliest stops in North America. With simple controls and a steady sense of progress as the resort grows, it is an easy first simulation game for a young player and a sweet bit of mid-2000s handheld nostalgia for anyone who once dreamed of running a kennel of their own.
